Sevenoaks Child Contact Centre

Sevenoaks Child Contact Centre is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children of separated families can spend time with one or both parents, and other family members. It is a child-centred environment that puts the needs of the children first.

We aim for a warm, sociable atmosphere where you and your children can relax and enjoy yourselves. We have games, toys and books for children of all ages - and tea, coffee and other refreshments for adults. You may wish to bring along some favourite toys, special drinks or other things you might need, such as nappies.

The centre is run by fully-trained, and impartial, volunteers. They work to a strict confidentiality policy and have all been checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Frequently asked questions

How does it work?

Visits are set up via referral from a social worker, solicitor, family mediator, CAFCASS officer or by a court order. Whoever sets up the referral fills out a form and sends it to the Centre Coordinator. How often you come to the centre depends on your availability and when the Centre is open.

To make your first visit as straightforward as possible, we advise that you come with your child beforehand to get to know the Centre and staff.

Do I have to meet my ex-partner at the Centre?

Not if you don't want to. Whilst you are responsible for your child at all times during your visit, a member of staff can manage the handover if this is a concern for you.

What happens if I can't make a visit?

Let the Centre Coordinator know as soon as you can.

Will the Centre make any reports about us?

A Child Contact Centre is independent of the courts, social services and any statutory agencies. We do not make verbal or written reports about visits apart from the dates and times of attendance. The only exception is if we believe a child, member of staff, volunteer or Centre user is at risk of harm.

Can my new partner attend?

As this is a special time for your child to spend time with the parent they no longer live with, we ask that new partners do not attend the Centre.
